July 15, 2024, through the Summer of 2025, buses will replace regular weekday & weekend train service between Haverhill & Bradford to accommodate the South Elm Bridge replacement project. A new Haverhill Line Construction Schedule will soon be available. Starts Jul 15 Built in 1906, the South Elm Bridge is beyond its useful life and ready to be replaced. Using accelerated bridge construction techniques to reduce customer and traffic impacts, the MBTA will replace the nearly-120-year-old bridge with a modern single-span structure with a useful life of 75 years.
